Yushi Dangami
Messenger of the cosmos Sublimity exists in the micros
March 25 (Wed) – April 5 (Sun), 2026
NEW is pleased to present “Narrators of the World: The Sublime of the Small,” a solo exhibition by Yushi Dangami, on view from March 25 (Wed) to April 5 (Sun), 2026.
Dangami has consistently created works using honeycomb as a material, exploring the theme of the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature that has been cultivated since ancient times through the world of bees. Across a wide range of practices—including painting, sculpture, poetry, and social projects—his work is grounded in a sensitivity to the aesthetics emerging from the climate and environment of Japan, while seeking to reconnect life and environment and to explore the possibilities of healing.
This exhibition centers on the “Sympoiesis” series of beeswax paintings, created through a process of co-creation between bees and beekeepers. Through a group of paintings that explore a world where humans and light overlap in multiple layers, the works draw on ideas such as solar reverence and the concept of the “open garden,” proposing an inquiry into ways of inhabiting multiple worlds beyond a human-centered perspective.
From the viewpoint of small living beings that exist within the vast cycles of nature and ecosystems, the exhibition quietly invites reflection on the connections between ourselves, the environment, and existence itself.
In addition, a beeswax sculpture by Joseph Beuys, known for his concept of social sculpture, will also be presented.
By taking time to engage with each work and viewing them as if in dialogue, we hope the exhibition will offer visitors a moment to encounter their own discoveries and reflections.
We warmly invite you to visit the venue and experience the works in person.
