Visual Poetry Using Sheet Music
This is a visual poem using sheet music. In 2003, to commemorate the exhibition "Katsue Kitazono Exhibition" held at Keiseido Gallery in Tokyo, a limited edition box set of small works by 21 poets titled "in the spirit of Kit Kat" was published. I contributed No.1 to this edition, which became the catalyst for the creation of Nos. 2 through 6 all at once. The following year, a limited edition of 46 copies was published as a personal edition.
No.1 A Condensed Symphony No.9, Final Movement (with Chorus)
No.2 A Stormy Gymnopédie
No.3 Visualized 4’33”
No.4 Hey, Prelude, How Long Are You Going to Keep This Up?
No.5 Largo – The Infinite Aria
No.6 Troy – Blocked – Merai
As the titles suggest, these works are a kind of musical joke, where pre-existing musical compositions have been condensed, deformed, transcribed, or anthropomorphized, applying various manipulations (written by Mieko Shiomi).
