Scheduled for his first large-scale solo exhibition, 'ADAPTATION - KYNE,' at the Fukuoka City Art Museum in spring 2024, the artist KYNE (1988-) proudly holds enduring popularity in Japan's contemporary art world. While pursuing studies in Japanese painting at university, KYNE transitioned to acrylic portraits post-graduation. The artist established the current style by combining acrylic techniques with the Japanese painting method called "kouroku," where the form of the subject is outlined with lines.

During childhood, KYNE grew up immersed in popular culture, including 1980s idols and music. Later, encountering graffiti during student years, the artist engaged in tagging alongside creating Japanese paintings. The fusion of these diverse mixed cultural experiences is vividly reflected in the artistic style, and KYNE expresses " the mood of city," incorporating elements from various cultures absorbed over time, through portraits known as "KYNE girl." These veiled women, embodying the essence of “the girl next door,” captivate the public's hearts within the context of contemporary art. KYNE also manages the shop 'ON AIR' with the illustrator NONCHELEEE, transcending the boundaries of art and intersecting with the realms of fashion and music.

The artwork titled "Untitled" presents an impressive landscape featuring the sky, palm trees, billboards, and the iconic "KYNE girl" within a billboard. The billboard showcases the CD jacket of the debut single "Aitai wa/Night Groove" by Japanese singer iri, created by KYNE in 2015. This collaboration sparked an ongoing relationship, with KYNE consistently providing jacket images for iri. The stark contrast between the melancholic azure sky and the palm tree, resembling a dark shadow, evokes the strong sunlight of a midday drive, suggesting a nostalgic mood.
