Publisher: Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, New York
One of a series of ten "Myths" paintings produced by Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987) in conjunction with the Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York in 1981. The characters chosen for the series were famous characters from classic American films and television shows from the 1950’s. For this painting, Margaret Hamilton, the actress who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the film “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) was invited to Warhol’s Factory Studio and photographed with a Polaroid camera to recreate her iconic pose.
