This set of prints by Julian Schnabel (1951 - ), an artist often associated and positioned at the centre of the New Image Painting movement of the late 1970’s and 1980’s, was exhibited in March 1983 at Castelli Graphics in New York. Using traditional Japanese Kozo Washi paper; the works feature bold lines drawn with rough brushstrokes, a technique that is representative of Schnabel’s early works, to present an allegory of history, religion and culture. It is a post-modern work that plays with its various materials and expressions.
