Artisanal Series

Known as "The Red Show," Maison Martin Margiela's Autumn-Winter 1995 collection took its name from its striking palette of vivid reds, oranges, and pinks. Staged in a circus tent on the outskirts of Paris, the runway featured models wearing face-covering masks, heightening the sense of anonymity and theatricality that had become central to Margiela's vision. While retaining the House's characteristic avant-garde spirit, the collection also marked a turning point, reflecting a more refined and mature approach to conceptual fashion.

This Artisanal denim jacket, presented in the Autumn–Winter 1995 collection, is one of the best-known Artisanal works from The Red Show. Reconstructed by hand from a vintage denim jacket, its entire surface has been painted in vibrant red. The original buttons have likewise been replaced with Maison Martin Margiela buttons, each individually painted red to match the garment. Embodying Margiela's philosophy of transforming existing objects through reconstruction, the jacket stands as one of the most iconic pieces from The Red Show and a landmark example of the House's celebrated Artisanal practice.
