Maison Martin Margiela's Spring-Summer 1999 collection is widely regarded as a landmark season, revisiting and reinterpreting many of the Maison's most influential concepts. This piece belongs to the Replica Series, which reimagines the original Doll (Barbie) Series introduced in the Autumn-Winter 1994 collection.
Based on the concept of enlarging Barbie doll clothing to human scale, the design faithfully reproduces the proportions of the miniature original, resulting in distinctive oversized details such as its exaggerated buttons and zipper.
