When creating his numerical works, Jones often drew the numbers using stencils, like those used for packaging, to avoid the tedium of repetition and focus on tasks like coloring.
These works in which the numerals from 0 to 9 were arranged individually in this way would later evolve into layered compositions such as "0 through 9."
