DESCRIPTION

Publisher: Petersburg Press, New York and London

Jones had long been questioning the meaning of words in his paintings — writing the word "YELLOW" in blue, or placing the word "RED" on top of yellow — deliberately confusing viewers with full intent.
In this work as well, color space is stripped away, and the words referring to the three primary colors that appear on the surface carry no coherent meaning.
Motifs he had frequently employed across both his paintings and prints — dots, semicircles, arrows, and outstretched arms — make their appearance here once again.
