Ryan Travis Christian (1983 - ) is a California-born, Chicago-based artist known for his paradoxical style that depicts the heavy social issues facing people today in a nostalgic, cartoon-like manner. Influenced by hand-drawn animation, vintage political cartoons, and the spirit of the Chicago Imagists, Christian, who grew up in a small town in the suburbs of Chicago, incorporates themes of the economy, the environment, hope, violence, gender, depression, and many other topics facing contemporary American society to illustrate the latent, unbalanced mentality of modern man.
