This work is part of the “Solidarité” portfolio that was produced to aid the Spanish Republican Children's Fund cause during the Spanish Civil War. The series was printed at Atelier 17, founded in 1927 by British printmaker Stanley William Hayter. The collection mainly features etchings by Spanish artists such as Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, but also includes prints by Yves Tanguy and André Masson, and poems by surrealist poet Paul Éluard.
