Publisher: Tyler Graphics, New York
In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Josef Albers (1888 - 1976) created the series “Homage to the Square,” which focused on the relationship between simplified form and color. Albers later became interested in the way in which countless combinations of gray would interact with one another, leading to various experiments on the subject. From 1974-1975, Albers produced a portfolio of twelve works with the American printer Kenneth Tyler, titled “Gray Instrumentation I, II.”
